At a Glance: The College of HHD
Our approach to education involves the whole person - psychologically, emotionally, socially and intellectually. Degree programs teach students to impact the lives of others in positive ways while enriching life for themselves.
Faculty are experts in a diverse range of fields. Our labs and classrooms are equipped with the latest technology. From our exercise science labs in Kinesiology, to the Language Speech and Hearing Center in Communication Disorders and Sciences, to food science labs in the department of Family & Consumer Sciences, our departments offer work environments similar to the professional world.
Class sizes are small, and many classes and labs are limited to thirty students (upper division and graduate classes are often even smaller). As a result, students get to know their professors and classmates, and professional relationships last well beyond the college years.

Our Courses of Study
The College of Health & Human Development is made up of eight academic departments with programs that lead students to rewarding careers. A baccalaureate or master's degree is also an excellent foundation for more advanced degrees.
Community service and internship programs are part of the curriculum. Students get valuable experience and increase their career opportunities.
Choices for internships and experiential learning range from assisting people with disabilities toward mobility, to teaching physical education in schools, to showing low income families how to make nutritious meals on a tight budget to bringing communication skills to victims of stroke or to children born with disabilities that affect speech - and well beyond.
All of our educational programs emphasize quality-of-life improvement for people, whether the student chooses to promote health and well being through direct action or managing services. Our collaborative approach means we have an optimal learning environment and an exciting, diverse academic community.
A Learning Centered College:
CSUN is a Learning Centered University, guided by the principle of experiential learning.
"CSUN should empower faculty and staff to regard students not as vessels that receive knowledge, but rather as agents who assume responsibility for learning and, in fact, construct learning collaboratively."
-Dr. Harry Hellenbrand, Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs, CSUN
