HONORS

Annette Besnilian was selected to receive the Excellence in Education Award from the California Dietetic Association/ American Dietetic Association. She will be honored at the national conference this spring in recognition of her outstanding work in teaching, leadership, and service as Dietetic Internship Director for the Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Science Program.

Carlen Loewenthal, FCS grad student (DPD)has been named 2011's Outstanding Dietetic Student by the American Dietetic Association/California Dietetic Association. Carlen is doing her dietetic internship at the VA Greater Los Angeles.

April Stahl Goldenberg, one of our grad students (DPD) 2010,and dietetic interns, has just been named the Young Dietitian of the Year from ADA/CDA.

FUNDING AWARDED TO FCS

Marilyn Magaram Center has received a grant from HUD for: Advancing Professional Competencies of Nutrition and Health Science Students in the Area of Breastfeeding Education: A Service Learning Project from the USDA

Joyce Gilbert was awarded a grant for: Reducing the Childhood Obesity Rate Among Low Income Children in the Van Nuys Neighborhood.
