This year's Flores Family Iron Matador competition brought about a delicious variety of recipes - and fast inventiveness from students in the Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Science program in Family and Consumer Sciences. Modeled after TV's Iron Chef, the contest called for participants to utilize surprise ingredients to win over the palates of the judges. First place went to the vegan team, "Sugar and Spice."
Anita Slechta, Professor of Health Sciences and Director of the Radiologic Technology Sciences Program (Rad Tech), was one of two educators elected to the House of Delegates of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) in 2009. She began a two year term this June. ASRT members help drive curriculum and set professionalism and safety standards in the field.
Christina Lee, a senior in Radiologic Sciences, was among six US students chosen to intern at the American Society of Radiologic Technologists 2009 conference. The House of Delegates Vice Speaker was her mentor.
