PBS NOVA: CADV Faculty Talks About the Stress of Racism and Resistance to COVID-19

PBS NOVA reached out to Child and Adolescent Development faculty Virginia Huynh, among several experts, for a recent article about how "allostatic load" from the stress of racism can affect health and resistance to illness--especially in the midst of the pandemic.  Huynh's studies have pointed out that racism does not have to be overt to raise stress and compromise health. Microaggressions, the frequent, seemingly-subtle expressions that say "you're different and therefore less-than" compound to disrupt multiple regulatory systems. Dietetics Grad Students Learn to Market CSUN Homegrown Honey

“Bee a Matador,” CSUN’s homegrown honey, has been a huge success in the Campus Store and in holiday gift baskets, and the students and faculty members who produce it want its impact to be even greater. Students in CSUN’s Marilyn Magaram Center for Food Science, Nutrition, and Dietetics have been collaborating with Biology faculty and beekeeper Rachel Mackelprang to optimize honey production. 2020 CSUN Wolfson Scholar Omar Ullah Celebrated Among Six Outstanding Graduates

Of the more than 11,700 Matadors eligible to graduate from CSUN in May, six individuals were singled out for special recognition as outstanding graduating students. And if all goes well and it’s safe to do so, CSUN will fete these honorees in person at the university’s Commencement ceremonies at year’s end. Among those recognized in May was Omar Ullah, this year’s Wolfson Scholar, the highest honor awarded to a graduating senior. Read more about Omar Ullah
