HHD Stories Come to Life: Wanderlust Creamery

Borlongan and Lopez, owners/founders Wanderlust Creamery

CSUN Alumni Adrienne Borlongan ('09, Family and Consumer Sciences) and Jon-Patrick "JP" Lopez ('08, Business Law) are the co-founders of Wanderlust Creamery. The couple now owns several shops in Southern California. A devoted customer base and social media following, for their inventive, artisanal flavors, has fueled phenomenal growth over the past few years. Their story was featured in CSUN Today in February, 2020, just ahead of the pandemic. We followed up with them to find out what has happened with the business since then (it's grown-- a lot). There are more than 1,000 remarkable women faculty at CSUN — far more than one could ever encounter during one’s studies or career at the university. In honor of Women’s History Month, here are just a few who stand out in their fields. Their specialties are engineering, gender equity, travel and tourism, and public health. We talked to them about their research, how things have changed in their classrooms (or not) in terms of female representation and their thoughts on empowering women. As Contact Tracers, CSUN Students Track COVID-19

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, contact tracing has played a critical role in slowing the spread of the virus. In March 2020, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health turned to CSUN students for help, offering them internships as contact tracers. This opportunity was established with the help of Cathy Rusch, internship coordinator for the undergraduate public health and health administration programs in the Department of Health Sciences and faculty advisor for the Health Administration Student Association.
