The 'College of Life' Shows the Breadth of Offerings in Inaugural Conference

What started in the spring of 2022 as a small set of faculty research presentations at the bi-annual college meeting, grew into the inaugural HHD Research Excellence and Innovation Conference in the fall. "We have nine departments in the college … and we are doing so much excellent work, from creative art to hard science,” Interim Dean Mechelle Best said, adding that a conference could show the breadth of disciplines in the college, as well as the excellent, innovative work of our faculty, students, and staff. Food is a major focus of the holidays, but it’s also a time of year that can lay bare the challenges of food insecurity and shine a light on organizations that feed the hungry. CSUN has its own Food Pantry which provides shelf-stable food to students, faculty and staff in need, year-round. Christel Bowen ’18 (FCS/Nutrition and Dietetics) is the activities assistant for Food Programs at CSUN’s Food Pantry. She manages a team of nine student assistants, in addition to several volunteers.  Read More About Christel Bowen

$1M Special Ed. Grant helps Build Pipeline to CADV

The Department of Child and Adolescent Development will benefit from a grant received by the Michael D. Eisner College of Education which has received a $1.1 million, five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant will support the development of a pipeline between the College of Education and the College of Health and Human Development.
