Brian Malec, Ph.D. Certificate Academic Advisor.For the past thirty years, Dr. Malec has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in healthcare information systems.He has a long history of research, publications and presentations in the area of health information technology (HIT). He has contributed chapters to a textbook and has given many presentations at both national and international professional information technology conferences. Since 1985, Dr. Malec has been active in the Information Management Faculty Network of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AU PHA). He has served as chair and co-chair of the AUPHA Academic Forum, which has been held since 2005 in conjunction with the HIMSS conference. Most recently, Dr. Malec is a member of the AUPHA HIT Curriculum Taskforce that is charged with developing HIT teaching modules for graduate programs in health administration. Dr. Malec was chosen to write one of the thirteen modules on HIT. Dr. Malec has demonstrated leadership in the HIT curriculum space for over twenty-five years and continues to conduct research and give professional presentations in the area of health information management.
