We can all remember those teachers who really understood us and went the extra mile to help. They encouraged us to try another approach - maybe even just when we were ready to give up. Years later, their words and actions continue to motivate us.
Every spring, faculty from all across campus are recognized by the CSUN University Ambassadors for exemplary teaching, mentorship and their positive impact on students' lives. The students make the nominations and, once the selections are made, formally present the awards to their faculty at the Polished Apple Awards event.
Among this year's recipients were eight exemplary faculty from the College of Health and Human Development:
Child and Adolescent Development: Virginia Huynh, nominated by Catherine Placencia; David Wakefield, nominated by Catherine Placencia and Christine Matos
Family and Consumer Sciences: Terri Lisagor and Claudia Fajardo-Lira, nominated by Rashi Bhatnager
Health Sciences: Deborah Forman, nominated by Stephen Cho
Kinesiology: Tami Abourezk (Associate Dean and faculty) nominated by Joanna Brazzle; Steven Loy (not pictured) nominated by Stephen Cho; Kim Henige, (not pictured) nominated by Jessica Ramos
We are proud of all of our Polished Apple Award Recipients and their enthusiasm for student success.
