Graduate Equity Fellowship Program

The primary objective of the Graduate Equity Fellowship Program is to prepare, encourage and support those graduate students who aspire to obtain a doctorate and pursue an academic career in teaching and research. Applicants must have a faculty mentor who will assist them in this pursuit as well as their research. The maximum award is $4,500 per academic year and eligible students may apply for up to two years of support.

Thesis / Project / Performance Support Program

Funds are available for graduate students working on research projects, artistic performances, and theses. Awards up to $1,000 may be provided to selected students, based on review of an application which outlines the project, thesis or performance and anticipated costs. Costs associated with travel to a research site, supplies, minor equipment and library searches are examples of expenditures which are supported.

Graduate Student Travel Awards

The Office of Graduate Studies provides a limited number of travel awards (up to $400) for graduate students who are presenting a paper, poster or performance at a peer-reviewed professional conference. A formal acceptance letter (or email) from the sponsoring organization addressed to the student that indicates acceptance is required. Additionally, a detailed budget of the travel cost should be included with the request for funding. For more information contact Hedy Carpenter at (818) 677-2138 or email hedy.carpenter@csun.edu.

Students are also encouraged to seek funds from the Office of Associated Students (AS) Academically Related Reserves Account (ARRA). This program may cover expenditures such as conference registration fees, airfare, hotel and ground transportation. For more information, contact the accounting office of Associated Students at 677-2389 or stop by the A.S. accounting office, room 240 in the Student Services Building (Bayramian Hall).
