About UWS



UNFIED WE SERVE the Volunteer Program at California State University, Northridge is an opportunity offered by the Matador Involvement Center for students to participate in furthering their education through serving the community.

UNIFIED WE SERVE provides students with multiple resources to engage in volunteerism including:

  • Membership: Students joining UNIFIED WE SERVE participate in community service events as a collective group. Events have consisted of clothing & food drives, providing holiday food baskets for families in need, mentoring youth, reading to kids, AIDS Walk, and many others. Members attend two meetings a month and are eligible to receive a service award from the President of the United States of America.
  • Volunteer Opportunities: One day community service events that include: AIDS Walk, Zumbathon!, Building Community Gardens, Clothing & Food Drive, Mentoring Youth, Service Fair, Veteranís Care Packages, and many more!
  • Recognition: Earn the Presidentís Volunteer Service Award for your Club/Organization or team. Completing a required number of service hours will earn your organization a Presidential pin, Letter from the President of the United States, and a certificate from the President.

UNIFIED WE SERVE Accomplishments & Awards include:

Recipient of the 2010 Association of College Unions International Service Award for Outstanding Service Project of the Year; adopted families for Thanksgiving (40 families/2009; 70 families/2010; 85 families/2011); donation drive of clothing, food, toys and books (5,000 items/2009; 15,000 items/2010; 16,000 items/2011); raised $4,500 for Haiti relief; raised $25,000 for Autism research.
