Conference Newcomers

Welcome to the Clubs & Organizations - Annual Recognition Conference pages of the Matador Involvement Center website! This page is designed for those of you who have never attended the Annual Recognition Conference and would like to know more about it.

The Annual Recognition Conference is a mandatory annual event for all University Recognized and Associated Students chartered club and organization leaders at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). Although it is open to general members of the clubs and organizations, at least one officer from each recognized club or organization must attend (president or treasurer is highly encouraged). Attendance of the entire program re-registers your club or organization for the 2009-2010 academic year.

Tips for First-Timers: Keep an Open Mind

No two conferences are the same. While you may hear from others what the previous years' programs consisted of, you will be pleasantly surprised to find how it has evolved over the years. This year's conference will highlight some new and exciting workshops and a very interactive opening activity! Casual attire recommended.

Send at Least Two Members

As you read above, 'at least one officer from each recognized club or organization must attend'. We recommend you bring along at least two officers from your organization. You will be able to explore your workshop options together and come together following the conference to "share notes". The conference is free and includes lunch for 2 representatives from each organization. Groups sending additional members may be charged $15 for breakfast, lunch and a late-afternoon snack, per registered member. This charge will only be incurred if necessary; your club will be notified following the event.

What Do You Do First?

Register for the conference. The earlier the better! The only way to register is online. Call the Matador Involvement Center if you are having trouble with the registration form. You can also register on the day of the conference, but you may miss out on critical information sent to those who register in advance.

Featured Activity

PLAYFAIR is the most popular campus attraction in history for New Student Orientation Programs. PLAYFAIR is unlike anything else you have ever experienced. It's entertainment! It's fun! It's the perfect way to make new campus friendships! You can sign up to be trained on how to facilitate these icebreaker and teambuilding activities. Fifty-minute presentations developed from feedback collected from past and present student leaders. These workshops are designed to actively engage participants in subjects pertinent to your role as a student leader.

In addition to a healthy meal, we have coordinated a group of local vendors to meet and greet with you in the OST Lawn. These exhibitors will provide information beneficial to your student clubs and organizations.
