On the third night we stayed at the relatively plush accommodations of the CSU Desert Studies Center, southwest of Baker at Zzyzx. Showers and warm rooms were a big hit. In the morning, Frank Hanna gave us an introduction to the Pleistocene lakes of the Mojave Desert area.
