As A Fund-Raising Project For
The CSUN GEOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT FUND
Because the cost of education continues to rise, many geology students need financial aid if they are going to complete their geology degrees in a timely fashion so that they might become the geologists of the future. The GeoTrek was planned as a philanthropic event to raise funds through event sponsors for the CSUN Geological Sciences Scholarship Endowment.
The total length of this first GeoTrek was about 75 MILES and it was completed over a 7-day period. After each hiking day a rest day was taken during which pictures and a geologic description of the previous day's hike was posted on the internet.
Geology alumni, faculty and friends were encouraged to COME JOIN THE FUN WITH GENE AND SUE on any of the GeoTrek segments that they might choose. Each of the daily segments is described below.

Saturday, March 13, 2004: Old L. A. Zoo Picnic Area to Fryman Canyon Overlook
Monday, March 15, 2004: Fryman Canyon Overlook to Encino Hills Drive
Wednesday, March 17, 2004: Encino Hills Drive to Topanga Canyon Blvd.
Saturday, March 20, 2004: Topanga Canyon Blvd. to Tapia Park
Monday, March 22, 2004: Tapia Park to Kanan-Dume Road
Wednesday, March 24, 2004: Kanan Dume Road to Triunfo Pass
Friday, March 26, 2004: Triunfo Pass to Point Mugu
