Annual Federal Work-Study Supervisor Meeting 2013-2014
If 2013-2014 is the first or second year you will be hiring a Federal Work-Study student, you must attend the annual meeting for supervisors held on Thursday, April 25, 2013, 8:30 a.m.-noon, at the Jack & Florence Ferman Presentation Room in the Oviatt Library. Please reserve a seat by sending an email to work.study@csun.edu or by calling the work-study reception desk at (818) 677-2373 no later than Friday, April 19, 2013.
Online Supervisor Training
Supervisors who have hired work-study students in the past two consecutive years may fulfill the annual meeting requirement by completing the online training. Please note that the link will not be active until April 15, 2013.
Off-Campus Agencies
There will be a separate training via conference call for off-campus agencies only. The training will take place on Friday, April 26, 2013, 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. A separate email communication will be sent with the details.
Important Reminder
Any department or program that fails to fulfill the meeting requirement will not be granted a Federal Work-Study allocation and will not be able to pay their students using Federal Work-Study funds!
For more detailed information on FWS, see the Federal Work-Study Supervisor Handbook.
Off-Campus Agencies
Off-Campus Agencies
Off-campus agencies interested in participating in the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program must send the Cal State Northridge federal work-study manager, Josefina Carbajal, a letter of interest. If funds are available, Northridge offers contracts to off-campus nonprofit organizations during the month of June for the upcoming academic year, which begins in August.
If the work-study office is able to offer new FWS contracts for the next academic year, prospective off-campus FWS employers must attend the annual supervisors' meeting, which is usually scheduled during April or May. It is best, therefore, to submit your letter of interest by March. Your letter must include the following information:
- Brief description of your nonprofit organization
- Whether you charge the community for your services
- Years in existence
- How your organization is funded
- Types of jobs available for Northridge work-study students
- Number of work-study students you'd like to hire (work-study contracts are not offered to those looking to hire only one employee)
- Contact information: address, phone and email
- A copy of business profit-and-loss statement
- Organization brochure, if available
Mail your letter of interest to:
