Student Information
Here is what you need to do to find a work-study job and receive a work-study pay check:
(It is important to note that if you do not work for an authorized work-study employer, you will not receive any portion of your work-study award.)
- All work-study student employees must read the
Work-Study
Student Handbook. The Work-Study Student Handbook has all the information,
rights and responsibilities for work-study student employees. If you get
a job with the USU, you must read the special
USU
Work-Study Student Handbook. - Once you have read the Work-Study Student Handbook, you need to go back to the Work-Study Student Information section and take the Work-Study Student Handbook Quiz. When you successfully pass the quiz, a certificate will pop up. Type in your name, student ID, print it and give it to the hiring supervisor. If you get a job with the USU, you must take the special USU Work-Study Handbook Quiz.
- You must read the Drug-Free Campus and Workplace Policy
- Go to the Work-Study Job List on the Career Center's website at http://www.csun.edu/career/students/index.htm. Once you find a job/s that interests you, write down the department contact information and contact the department for application instructions. The department will consider you for employment and let you know if you have a job offer.
- Your work-study award will appear in the accept status on the CSUN Portal after you have been hired, you have signed the work-study authorization, and your supervisor has submitted your authorization to the Work-Study Office.
If you are already working in a non-work-study position, you may wish to decline your Federal Work-Study award. You should keep in mind, however, that all earnings, except for Federal Work-Study, are included in the calculation of income determining your eligibility for financial aid the following year. You may earn 50 percent of your award in the fall semester and 50 percent in the spring semester.
