Academic Progress may affect Financial Aid Eligibility
To comply with federal and state requirements, California State University, Northridge has adopted an Annual Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy and a Midyear Academic Progress Review Policy to apply reasonable standards for measuring whether a student, who is otherwise eligible for financial aid, is maintaining satisfactory progress toward the completion of his/her educational objective.
Question: How will an Annual Academic Progress Policy review affect eligibility for aid?
During this review, which is conducted every July, progress will be reviewed in several areas: by comparing the number of units attempted, versus the number of units you have completed; academic disqualification by the University; and unit and time limits to complete a degree. Failure to make satisfactory progress in any of these areas will constitute ineligibility for financial aid of any kind. A Disqualification Letter will be emailed to the student detailing the reason(s) for denial.
Reinstatement is possible if there are extenuating circumstances that should be considered as the basis for an appeal. An Academic Advisor or other University support staff will make an assessment of the student's potential for academic success and forward that decision to our office. See Below.
