YOUR AWARD CAN BE HELD, REDUCED OR CANCELLED FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS:
NON-ENROLLMENT/REDUCTION IN UNITS ENROLLED
This award is based on your regular, full-time enrollment at California
State University, Northridge pursuing an eligible degree or certificate,
unless you have arranged with the Financial Aid & Scholarship Department
to enroll less than full-time. If you will be less than full-time, your award will be adjusted
(full-time for financial aid is based on 12 units for undergraduate, credential,
and 2nd B.A. students, and 8 units for graduate professional students.)
A change in enrollment may result in reduction or cancellation of your financial aid award. If you are awarded the State University Grant and enroll in less than 6 units as an Undergraduate or Credential student or in less than 4 units as a Graduate student, your grant will be cancelled. Any refund of fees will be sent to your lender or to other federal and state aid programs. This award is NOT transferable if you decide to change schools.
CHANGE IN STATUS
You must update any change in your enrollment status, academic program or graduation date by submitting a Status Change Notification Form (http://www.csun.edu/finaid/forms10.html#statuschg10). You must also report any changes in mailing and e-mail addresses on the myNorthridge Portal (http://www.csun.edu/). Changes in living arrangements or name changes must be reported to the Financial Aid & Scholarship Department. Failure to report any changes to your status may delay processing and release of financial aid funds.
MAINTAIN SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS
You must maintain satisfactory academic progress. A detailed summary
of these standards is available at http://www.csun.edu/finaid/sap.html.
This award notice is INVALID if Satisfactory Academic Progress is NOT met.
FUND AVAILABILITY
California State University, Northridge reserves the right to reduce the Financial Aid Awards, if state/federal funding changes.
The offer of financial aid may change once the State Budget is signed by the Governor. Some awards are based on the State University Fee, as well as other campus fees, which are subject to change during the Budget process. Although the Budget is required to be signed by June 30th of each year, some years the process is delayed.
ADDITIONAL AID FROM OUTSIDE SOURCES
All educational resources (such as Scholarships, Vocational Rehabilitation
Benefits, Resident Assistants Benefits, etc.) that are not listed on this
notice must be reported to the Financial Aid & Scholarship Department.
Your award must be reduced if other benefits affect your eligibility for
financial aid program. You must report to the Financial Aid & Scholarship Department if you are attending another college or university, or if you are receiving any form of financial aid at another college or university.
RELEASE OF FUNDS
All financial aid funds are held if it is determined that more information
is needed due to eligibility changes or conflicting information. Go to
your “To-Do” List in the myNorthridge
Portal (http://www.csun.edu)
and check your file.
ENROLLMENT PROTECTION
Since you have been awarded financial aid, your account may now show that you have anticipated aid. Anticipated aid is made up of federal and state grants, scholarships, and federal student loans that you have accepted. If you do NOT accept your student loan, it will NOT show as anticipated aid.
If you have anticipated aid that is more than your charges due, your enrollment will be protected. If your anticipated aid is less than the charges due, you are responsible for paying any unpaid portion to University Cash Services (http:/www-admn.csun.edu/ucs/) by your payment deadline or you may be disenrolled.
FEES AND OBLIGATION YOU MAY OWE
The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after initial fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fees, without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by The Board of Trustees.
Fees, housing obligations, short-term loans and other costs (except parking and books/supplies) are deducted from your financial aid. If you do not receive sufficient financial aid to cover these charges, you are responsible for paying any unpaid portion to University Cash Services (http:/www-admn.csun.edu/ucs/). Your ability to enroll in classes and university services may be withheld if these charges are not paid.
Financial Aid & Scholarship Department staff members are available to assist you in understanding your award and aid-recipient rights and responsibilities.
CREDENTIAL STUDENT INFORMATION
If you are a credential student, you must
enroll at least half-time in the credential courses required by the state
of California. You must receive professional certification or licensing
credential to be employed as a teacher in an elementary or secondary school
in California. To receive financial aid, you must be pursuing an
initial teacher certification or licensing credential. Students in programs
that lead to a graduate degree are NOT eligible for Pell Grant.
LOAN INFORMATION
You must be enrolled at least half time for your Stafford loan to be processed (half-time for financial aid is based on 6 units for Undergraduate, Credential, and 2nd B.A. students, and 4 units for Graduate professional students). To remain eligible for the loan, you must be enrolled half-time when funds disburse. Failure to maintain half-time enrollment when funds are ready to disburse will result in cancellation of your loan and funds will be returned to lender. If you establish half-time enrollment after funds are returned to lender, you may request reinstatement of funds by submitting a Loan Activation Form (http://www.csun.edu/finaid/forms10.html#loan10) to the Financial Aid & Scholarship Department.
Direct Loan Entrance Counseling and a Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) are required for all 2009-2010 CSUN Borrowers. Complete Direct Loan Entrance Counseling at https://www.dl.ed.gov/borrower/EntrCounselingPage.do?cmd=initializeContext.
