Consequences of Withdrawing from your classes, including Medical Withdrawals
If you withdraw from all or some of your classes:
- all or part of your financial aid may be reduced or canceled and you may have a balance due on your account
- you must begin repaying your student loans if you are less- than half time when your grace period is over
- your Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) may be affected. Future aid eligibility may be jeopardized
- if you owe a balance to the university, a hold will be placed on your academic records at CSUN. This means you won't be able to
- register for subsequent semester(s) at CSUN
- obtain a copy of your academic transcript
- your credit history may be adversely affected when we report your past due account to an outside credit agency
- repeated withdrawals and unit drops may cause you to reach your loan maximum sooner and; therefore, reduce your ability to borrow or to be eligible for other aid programs in the future
Note: We strongly urge you to read and understand these consequences before initiating a withdrawal or unit drop. The financial aid staff in the Bayramian Hall main lobby can explain in more detail if you have additional questions.
