Foreclosure.com is breaking new ground by offering a scholarship program. The Foreclosure.com 2009 Scholarship Program is open only to those legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application and who are currently accepted, or enrolled in an accredited, post-secondary institution of higher learning (college, university, law school or trade school). Current employees, officers, directors and agents of Sponsor and its related companies and members of their immediate families (defined as spouses, parents, siblings and children) and persons residing at the same address are not eligible to win. The Hispanic Scholarship Fund gives over 4,000 scholarships each year to students going to four-year universities, community colleges and graduate school.

Jewish Vocational Service Scholarship Fund
Please see the information below regarding the JVS Scholarship Fund, a need-based program providing scholarships for college, graduate school and vocational school to Jewish students who are permanent residents of Los Angeles County. The online application period begins January 4, 2010 and closes March 12, 2010.
Since 1972, Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) has awarded more than $4 million to over 3,000 financially challenged Jewish students from Los Angeles pursuing higher education. This year alone, JVS is distributing nearly $340,000 to 166 deserving recipients attending colleges, graduate schools and vocational schools around the country. The National Academies
NRC Association Programs
The National Research Council administers competitive postdoctoral and
senior research awards on behalf of 33 U.S. government research agencies
with facilities at over 100 locations throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Awardees have the opportunity to:
- Conduct independent research in an area compatible with the interest of the sponsoring laboratory.
- Devote full-time effort to research and publication.
- Access the excellent and often unique facilities of the federal research enterprise.
- Collaborate with leading scientist and engineers at federal research laboratories.
Eligibility
Awards are available for scientist and engineers at all stages of their
career. Applicants should hold, or anticipate receiving, and earned doctorate
in science or engineering. Most awards are open to foreign nationals
as well as to U.S. citizens.
The Application Process
Applications for awards are reviewed by panels of distinguishing scientist
and engineers representing the disciplines of Chemistry; Earth and Atmospheric
Sciences; Engineering, Applied Science, and Mathematics; Life Science;
and Physics. Applications are reviewed four times each year. Detailed
program information, including application deadlines and instructions

Receiving an NRC Research Associate Award
Postdoctoral awards are for 12 months with renewal up to 3 years. Senior
research awards may be for shorter periods of time. Summer Faculty awards
are for 8-14 weeks, renewable for up to 3 successive summers.
Stipend and Benefits
Research Associates receive annual stipends ranging from $38,000 to $65,000
for recent graduates and proportionally higher for Senior Associates.
In addition, the NRC provides health insurance, relocation benefits and
an allowance for professional travel. The host laboratory provides research
facilities, equipment and funding for supplies to support the Associate’s
research.

Troops to Teachers
What is Troops to Teachers?
The troops to Teachers program is designed to assist separating or retiring military personnel in pursuing a rewarding second career in public education (elementary, secondary or vocational) while also facilitating employment in public schools.
Funded by the U.S. Department of Education and administered by the U.S. Department of Defense through the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Support (DANTES), the goal of the program is to help improve American education by providing mature, self-disciplined, and dedicated personnel for our nation’s classrooms.
The program serves as a link between interested military personnel and education related agencies such as: traditional districts and teachers recruitment centers.
Who May Register?
- Possess or are eligible for an honorable discharge and
- Separated from active duty with six or more years of service or
- Currently serving in the Guard or Reserve with six or more years of total service
Education Requirements:
- Must have a baccalaureate or advanced degree from an accredited institution or
- A minimum of one year of college, with six years of work experience in a technical field for vocational school teacher (only five years for California)
Financial Assistance:
The following financial assistance may be available to eligible individuals
- Stipends of up to $5,000 to reimburse costs associated with becoming certified to teach. Recipients of these stipends must agree to teach for three years in a school located in a “high-need district”
- Bonuses of $10,000 to those who agree to teach for three years in a school that serves a high percentage of students from low income families
Active Duty individuals in the following categories may apply for financial aid:
- Retired from active duty
- Active duty member with approved date of retirement and has one year or less remaining before retirement
- Separated on or after January 8, 2002 for physical disability. Must apply within four years after separation
Reserve and Guard members in the following categories may apply for financial aid:
- Retired from the Selected Reserve
- Currently serving in the drilling reserves with ten or more years of creditable service towards retirement and commit to serving an additional three years or until eligible for retirement.
- Drilling reservists separated due to a physical disability on or after January 8, 2002. Must apply within four years after separation
- Transitioning from active duty on or after January 8, 2002, and have served six years on active duty immediately before separation, an omit to three years with a drilling reserve unit
