Foreclosure.com Scholarship Program at a Glance

Foreclosure.com is breaking new ground by offering a scholarship program. The Foreclosure.com 2009 Scholarship Program is open only to those legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application and who are currently accepted, or enrolled in an accredited, post-secondary institution of higher learning (college, university, law school or trade school). Current employees, officers, directors and agents of Sponsor and its related companies and members of their immediate families (defined as spouses, parents, siblings and children) and persons residing at the same address are not eligible to win. Void where prohibited. No purchase of any kind is necessary.  This year's article topic is "How to solve the foreclosure crisis."

Who is eligible?

There are close to 150 HSF scholarship programs available to you, including the Gates Millennium Scholars Program. Scholarship amounts range from $1,000 to $15,000. Apply online at www.HSF.net or visit the CSUN Scholarship Department for an application.

    NRC Association Programs
    The National Research Council administers competitive postdoctoral and senior research awards on behalf of 33 U.S. government research agencies with facilities at over 100 locations throughout the U.S. and abroad. Awardees have the opportunity to:

    Eligibility
    Awards are available for scientist and engineers at all stages of their career. Applicants should hold, or anticipate receiving, and earned doctorate in science or engineering. Most awards are open to foreign nationals as well as to U.S. citizens.

    The Application Process
    Applications for awards are reviewed by panels of distinguishing scientist and engineers representing the disciplines of Chemistry; Earth and Atmospheric Sciences; Engineering,  Applied Science, and Mathematics; Life Science; and Physics. Applications are reviewed four times each year. Detailed program information, including application deadlines and instructions on how to apply, is available at the Associateship Programs website:

    Receiving an NRC Research Associate Award
    Postdoctoral awards are for 12 months with renewal up to 3 years. Senior research awards may be for shorter periods of time. Summer Faculty awards are for 8-14 weeks, renewable for up to 3 successive summers.

    Stipend and Benefits
    Research Associates receive annual stipends ranging from $38,000 to $65,000 for recent graduates and proportionally higher for Senior Associates. In addition, the NRC provides health insurance, relocation benefits and an allowance for professional travel. The host laboratory provides research facilities, equipment and funding for supplies to support the Associate’s research.

    What is Troops to Teachers?

     The troops to Teachers program is designed to assist separating or retiring military personnel in pursuing a rewarding second career in public education (elementary, secondary or vocational) while also facilitating employment in public schools.

    Funded by the U.S. Department of Education and administered by the U.S. Department of Defense through the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Support (DANTES), the goal of the program is to help improve American education by providing mature, self-disciplined, and dedicated personnel for our nation’s classrooms.

    The program serves as a link between interested military personnel and education related agencies such as: traditional districts and teachers recruitment centers.
