Scholarships are abundant, if you know where to look and are willing to put in the necessary time and effort. The payoff can be great as well. Scholarships don’t have to be repaid and they can help offset the need to borrow. Applying for scholarships is well worth your time.
Take a $500 scholarship, for example. Let’s say you spend a total of 5 hours, from filling out the application, to writing the essay, to finally preparing the additional documents and mailing. If you win the scholarship, you were earning $100 an hour!
Of course, beware of scholarship scams. If you are unsure of the validity of a particular scholarship, check with the CSUN Financial Aid and Scholarship Office. We will be happy to assist you in making sure your scholarship searches are safe.
