1. Log on to the myNorthridge Portal and navigate to your “Student Center” and click the “Accept My Student Loan” link.
2. Select the “Aid Year”
3. Click the “Accept” checkbox for the loan(s) you want to activate. You may also click the “Accept All” button to activate all loans listed. An “Accepted Amount” box will open up that allows you to reduce the amount. Please enter a non-zero amount less than or equal to the “Amount Offered”. Once you reduce the “Accepted Amount”, the “Offered Amount” will reduce too.
If you later decide that you need the original “Amount Offered”, you must submit a paper 09-10 Loan Activation Request to the Financial Aid & Scholarship Department for the additional amount.
If you want to decline a specific loan, click the “Decline” checkbox corresponding to the loan.
If you want to decline all loans listed, click the “Decline All” button.
The “Clear All” button resets your current transaction.
Stafford loan awards are made up of Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans. If you are awarded both loans, you must first accept the entire Subsidized portion before accepting any of the Unsubsidized portion. You may decline the Unsubsidized portion or both at any time.
You may only enter whole dollar amounts for this award. Please remove any cents portion.
Once you have entered the dollar amount, click the “Submit” button.
4. You must receive the “Submit Confirmation” message before leaving this page or your Stafford loan will not be activated. Click the “OK” button to return to the “Financial Aid – Accept My Student Loan” page.
5. Beginning fall semester 2009, CSU Northridge will participate in the Federal Direct Student Loan Program. In this first year of our participation, there are steps that you will need to take to receive a Federal Stafford loan. All borrowers, regardless of whether they have borrowed a Federal Stafford Loan at CSU Northridge in a previous year must:
- Complete a Direct Loan Master Promissory note (MPN)
- Complete the Online Entrance Counseling for Direct Loan Borrowers by clicking on the Loan Entrance Counseling link
