Fall 2009
Welcome back to campus. It is a new year full of hope and potentiality. Students are finding their classes and many of you are receiving your aid checks in the mail. We have already paid over $90 million to over 20,000 students for the Fall semester. Students who were awarded State University Grant or fee-paying Cal Grants saw their grants increased to cover the increased State University Fee. Over the fall semester we will be evaluating student budgets and awards to see if increased awards are possible for students who did not have fee-based awards.
We will continue to make payments with balance checks mailed each Wednesday. If your aid has not paid yet, please refer to Things That Affect My Financial Aid (http://www.csun.edu/finaid/affects-finaid.html) to see what you can do to speed things up. Also, keep in mind that your enrollment can affect your financial aid. Read the FAQ’s (http://www.csun.edu/finaid/enrollment.html) for more information.
You must make Satisfactory Academic Progress to receive aid next year. The policy for undergraduates is being updated and will cap financial aid eligibility at 150 attempted units. “Attempted units” include all courses withdrawn from (including medical withdrawals) or in which you received an F, NC, or Incomplete grade. If you have attempted more than 120 units, you should make every effort to finish your degree this year.
I wish each one of you a healthy and successful semester.
Cordially,
Lili Vidal, Director
Financial Aid and Scholarship Department
