Anticipated Aid, Payment Methods, Removal from Classes

Anticipated Aid

Your student account may show your Financial Aid as “Anticipated Aid” prior to the disbursement of your funds.  All grants, scholarships, and loans that were certified are considered as anticipated aid prior to disbursement.  These funds will not be disbursed until you have turned in all required paperwork (if required) and enrolled in sufficient units.  If you do not complete the requirements in a timely fashion, your aid may be canceled and you would have to pay any costs you may owe to the University at that time.

How to Pay Your Fees

To view your charges, log into ‘myNorthridge Portal’ and click Student Center (SOLAR) > Finances > Account Information.

Your financial aid award amounts will show up as “Anticipated Aid” on the myNorthridge Portal.  If your anticipated aid is sufficient to cover your charges, then you will not have to pay.  If the amounts are not enough, you will be required to pay the difference or risk being removed from your classes. Visit University Cash Services http://www-admn.csun.edu/ucs/fall_2009_feepay.htm#billing for information on how fees are determined and how to pay them. Financial Aid cannot be used to pay parking fees.

Removal from Classes

All fees must be paid by the deadline stated in the Schedule of Classes.  If you have anticipated aid it may prevent you from being removed from your classes, however you must have completed and returned all required paperwork and allowed time for processing.  Questions regarding removal from classes should be directed to University Cash Services or call (818) 677-8000, Option 3.

Special Note to Scholarship Students

Checks made payable to the University or co-payable to the student and the University must be processed by the University Scholarship Office.  Funds will not be disbursed prior to the week before school starts.  Scholarships received during the semester will be processed and disbursed within two weeks of receipt.  Unless the donor indicates otherwise, all scholarship checks made payable to the University will be divided into two semester payments.  Awards made by departments, colleges, or programs on campus must be coordinated with the Financial Aid & Scholarship Department and disbursed in the same manner as other financial aid.  Please be aware that any scholarships or academic awards may reduce your eligibility for other financial aid.

Are There Awards I Have to Pick Up Myself?

There are a few types of awards that must be picked up by the student in person (such as some outside scholarship checks). If this applies to you, you will be e-mailed [CSUN Email Account] a notice instructing you when and where to pick up the check(s). Please note:  in these cases, fees and other financial obligations may not be deducted beforehand--be prepared to settle these obligations before, or at the time, you pick up your check(s).  You must be enrolled in sufficient units.  If you do not satisfy these requirements, your aid may be canceled and you must make immediate arrangements to pay any costs owing the University at that time.  Checks are picked up at Bayramian Hall, Room 100R.
