Call for Proposals

Art, Activism, and Achievement: Visionary Vanguards – Amplifying Impact

We are excited to announce the “Call for Proposals” for presentations, posters, and performances at the faculty retreat, taking place on Friday, April 12th, 2024, 11:00am to 6:30pm at the Autry Museum, Griffith Park, 4700 Heritage Way, Los Angeles

This year’s faculty retreat aims to explore the intersection of Art, Activism, and Achievement, and we invite you to be a part of this dynamic event by submitting your poster, presentation, and/or performance proposals.

We encourage all faculty to submit a proposal, and to approach the prompts creatively! Proposals can include, but are not limited to: research related to art/activism, creative works, visual art, spoken word/poetry/readings, dance performances, demonstrations, and more!

The theme of “Art, Activism, and Achievement” is meant to explore various intersections of these values in faculty work, including but not limited to:

  • Art as Activism: How can art be used as a powerful tool for social change and activism? We welcome proposals that explore the role of art in raising awareness, challenging societal norms, and promoting dialogue on critical issues.
  • Activism through Achievement: How do individuals and communities leverage their achievements to drive positive change and advocate for social justice? Share your research, projects, and initiatives that highlight the transformative potential of achievement in activism.
  • Achieving Artistic Excellence: What are the pathways to achieving artistic excellence, and how does this excellence intersect with activism? Present your insights, strategies, and success stories in pursuing artistic endeavors that inspire action and create impact.

Whether you are engaged in research, artistic practice, community activism, or a combination thereof, we invite you to share your work and contribute to meaningful conversations at this event.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Poster Proposals should include a title, abstract (250 words maximum), and keywords.
  • Presentation/Performance Proposals must clearly align with one or more of the conference themes.
  • Submissions should be sent to the Call for Proposals form by March 29th, 2024
