When does a student become disqualified? What happens?

An undergraduate student is subject to academic probation if at any time the cumulative grade point average in all college work attempted or cumulative grade point average at the campus where enrolled falls below 2.0. The student becomes disqualified when his/her grade point average falls below the allowable for their class level (see chart above). A student must be on probation the semester prior to disqualification in order to get disqualified. Students who are disqualified at the end of an enrollment period under any of the provisions of this Executive Order should be notified before the beginning of the next consecutive regular enrollment period. Students disqualified at the beginning of a summer enrollment break should be notified at least one month before the start of the fall term. Students are not sent their registration packet at the end of the semester and therefore not allowed to register. It is highly recommended to meet with an academic adviser for readmission strategies when disqualified.

Readmission to CSUN

How can a student be readmitted after they are disqualified?

Disqualified undergraduate and second baccalaureate degree candidates who have been absent from the University for one or more semesters, must apply for readmission. Students are restricted to a maximum of two reinstatements from disqualification. Students disqualified are required to be out of attendance for at least a semester. For example, if disqualified in fall they must be set out for spring semester and if disqualified at the end of spring semester they must be set out for fall semester. In order to be readmitted they must fill out a New University Application, Previously Disqualified Questionnaire, and send transcripts from any college he/she attended. The student must have completed Section A of General Education in order to be considered for readmission.

What if I have over 60 units? Can I still apply for readmission as an undecided/undeclared student?

Not as a rule. You will have to decide on a major and apply for readmission in that major. If you have questions about this contact the Director of the ARC/EOP [818.677.2108] to discuss you particular situation.
