What information should I have about the Explore 2008 workshops?
Dear Student:
Congratulations on selecting California State University, Northridge as your university. As an undecided student we want to start off stating that it is okay to be undecided about your major! Research suggests that being undecided is often an optimal way to begin your college career. The Advising Resource Center/EOP will provide you with the vehicles to explore…discover…and decide on a major.
Part of our commitment to you is helping you choose the classes that best suit your needs and lead to your timely graduation. The Peer Advisors Mentors of the ARC/EOP will personally assist you in selecting and registering for classes. At the Advising Resource Center/EOP we are committed to providing high quality academic advisement in a student-learning environment, so that the interaction is an opportunity for students to maximize their educational success.
As a first year student, this advisement is so critical to you that it is mandatory. It will ensure that you choose the appropriate courses that meet your general education requirements. In preparation for the Fall 2008 semester, you must call the Advising Resource Center/EOP at 818.677.2108 to schedule your advisement/registration appointment.
In addition, log on to the campus Web portal at https://www.csun.edu/portal. You will be using the campus Web portal for a variety of things, including accessing your academic records, viewing your financial information and checking for important campus updates. Make sure to view your university email frequently. It is the official source of university communication.
As a first year student you have priority registration, meaning you are allowed to register before any other group of students. Priority registration for first year students is scheduled from Monday, May 15 to Friday, June 23, 2006, so make sure you receive academic advisement before the last day. Please print the First-Time Freshman Checklist prior to your advisement workshop for important information for first year students. Print and sign the Student Acknowledgement Signature Form and bring it with you to the Explore Workshop.
