EOP Admissions
EOP typically facilitates the admission of approximately 500-700 new freshmen and transfer students each academic year.
But the pipeline to the university begins much earlier than that and is centered in EOP's long-standing relationship with the community it serves. In the academic year 2006-2007 that pipeline takes the form of K-12 initiatives such as partnership programs with feeder schools. Programs such as Linking Academic Success with Student Outreach (LASSO) and the Dubois-Hamer Institute work with students from elementary, middle, and high school levels to increase their interest in and preparation for college work.
APPLICATIONS
Students wishing to enter the university with the assistance of EOP must file supplemental documents and materials in addition to the university application. A limited number of students who may not be routinely eligible (but who have demonstrated they have the motivation and potential to matriculate and graduate) are granted exceptional admission consideration. The financial criteria for EOP admission changes each year and is posted in the EOP application documents that are distributed with the university application materials. A limited number of EOP students receive a modest grant (approximately $800 per year), all EOP grants are processed through the Financial Aid Office.
Assessment focused on identifying students success potential begins at the pre-college stage and continues through a very deliberate and often interactive admissions process. From this process, students are selected to participate in transitional Bridge Programs and also a one-day EOP informational program, Fresh Start.
