New Minor in Writing and Rhetoric

The ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively is a necessity of life. In school, at the workplace, or even at home, we are always exercising the power and eloquence of rhetoric. It is a facet inherent in all we do! The new minor in writing and rhetoric, offered as of spring 2008 by the English Department, is a priceless addition to any degree program that promises to foster invaluable skills in many genres of communication, and will provide you with a competitive advantage in your classes as well as on the job market. This comprehensive program consists of 18 units of the following:

CORE COURSES (12 Units):

  • ENGL 306 Report Writing
  • ENGL 407 Composition and the Professions
  • ENGL 455 Literacy, Rhetoric, and Culture
  • ENGL 494 Internship
  • Electives (6 units)

ELECTIVES (6 Units):

Many choices are available from a variety of departments, including business, marketing, Chicano/a studies, communications, English, journalism, and Pan African Studies.
