Spring 2016 Updates

Department Emergency Action Plans

CSUN Emergency Management has recently created a new template for department level emergency action planning. Each CSUN Department should have a plan in place for communication, evacuation, and any unique hazards that may exist in their areas. We are hosting a series of upcoming workshops to assist departments with this planning process:

  • Thursday, May 12th 2-3PM
  • Wednesday, June 8th 9-10AM
  • Tuesday, June 28th 2-3PM

All sessions will be facilitated by Emergency Preparedness Manager Jenny Novak and will take place in DPS 212. Registration is available through the myNorthridge portal under Employee Learning & Training.

Building Evacuation Drills & Building Marshal Training

We have recently developed a plan to ensure that all buildings on campus receive building evacuation drills at least once over the next 18 months, with the goal of establishing drills as an annual occurrence. Planning building evacuation drills requires the support of the departments and occupants in each building, this includes the designation of Building Marshals and Principal Building Marshals for every building on campus. Building Marshals are required to attend a general, basic training session before building specific planning and training can begin. We encourage you to volunteer to assist with evacuations as a Building Marshal and/or to assist with recruiting additional Building Marshals in your area. We are hosting two upcoming training sessions:

  • Wednesday, June 15th 10-11AM
  • Tuesday, July 26th 2-3PM

All sessions will be facilitated by Emergency Preparedness Manager Jenny Novak and will take place in DPS 212. Registration is available through the myNorthridge portal under Employee Learning & Training.
