American Sign Language II AB

ASL II AB is designed to be a five-week condensed year-long academic course built upon the foundation of ASL I AB. The student will be immersed in ASL five days per week for five hours per day and, upon successful completion of the course, the student will receive ten credits.  Attendance is required for all five weeks.

ASL II AB will develop and improve all the language skills that the student has learned in ASL I AB.  ASL II is conducted in ASL; therefore, the student will utilize the acquired language skills in class daily.  The student will learn to develop a high degree of competence in language skills, understand and interpret American Sign Language on a variety of topics, engage in conversation, provide and obtain information, express feelings, and emotions, and exchange opinions using American Sign Language. 

The purpose of this course is to stress the continuous development of basic conversational skills with an emphasis on expanding vocabulary, grammatical understanding and expressive skills. Exposure to short narratives and stories will help students to continue developing their comprehension skills.
