We are proud that the Michael D. Eisner College of Education remains one of the largest Colleges of Education in the CSU system, providing to our surrounding communities hundreds of outstanding new professionals in the fields of education, counseling, administration, and Deaf Studies. The Eisner College engages in transformative education and initiatives that put into practice our commitment to social justice, equity, access, and inclusion, and supporting the social-emotional well-being of university, school, and community members. I am grateful to our talented faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners, all instrumental in ensuring the excellence of our educational programs and community-serving centers. The Department of Secondary Education is thrilled to welcome Assistant Professor Traci Dennis to our team! Dr. Dennis brings a strong record of teaching and leadership experience in underfunded PK-12 schools. Through teaching and scholarship, she aims to support teachers in translating antiracist theories into practice in PK-12 schools, classrooms, and curriculum. Read more

Fatmana Kara Deniz

Fatmana Kara Deniz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Special Education. Her research focuses on three main areas: (1) understanding teachers’ perceptions of cognitive autonomy-supportive teaching, (2) investigating evidence-based practices to support the development of cognitive autonomy skills for children/youth with and without disabilities and for whom English is not their first language, and (3) training teachers to use evidence-based practices to enhance student cognitive autonomy skills within the MTSS Framework. Joshua Einhorn to Serve as Mentor for CAHSSA Mentored Writing Groups

Dr. Joshua Einhorn, Grants Officer, has been selected to serve as mentor for the CAHSSA Mentored Writing Groups in 2022 and 2023. His experience as grants officer, National Science Foundation reviewer, and Associate Editor of the Journal of the Grant Professionals Association qualifies him to serve as a mentor. Read more
