Faculty Achievements - Awards and Achievements

Education Professor Cynthia Desrochers (InnovatED Editor) joined the Editorial Review Board of the Journal on Excellence in College Teaching, 2011-2014, published at Miami University of Ohio by and for faculty at universities and two- and four-year colleges to increase student learning through effective teaching, interest in and enthusiasm for the profession of teaching, and communication among faculty about their classroom experiences. Dr. Desrochers also assumed a second 3-year term as reviewer for Innovative Higher Education, 2011-2014, a refereed scholarly journal for the academic community from the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia.

Education Professor Beth Lasky (Special Education) is the recipient of the SIM 2012 Leadership Award from the Kansas University-Center for Research on Learning (KU-CRL) for outstanding work using the Strategic Instruction Model (SIM) throughout California. In making the award they stated, “Dr. Lasky has prepared educators in the use of the KU-CRL interventions over the years, and she has exhibited a deep knowledge of SIM, led and supported schools, districts, and their leadership teams, and scaffolded the learning of teachers, administrators, and other SIM professional developers.” The award will be given at the International SIM conference in Lawrence, Kansas on July 11, 2012.

Education Professor Rie Rogers Mitchell (Educational Psychology and Counseling) was elected President of the International Society of Sandplay Therapy, 2011-2015, at the International Congress in Switzerland.
