Dimpal Jain is a an Assistant Professor in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at California State University, Northridge. As a first generation college student from an immigrant family she received her B.A. in History with minors in English, Spanish, and Art History from Western Washington University and her Masters and Ph.D. in Higher Education and Organizational Change at the University of California, Los Angeles.
As a former community college practitioner and faculty member, her research interests include women leaders of color, critical race theory, womanism, and the transfer function. She has held positions at UCLA’s Center for Community College Partnerships, Santa Monica College, and Seattle Central Community College. Her work has been published in the Journal of Community College Research and Practice, the Negro Educational Review, and the Encyclopedia of Contemporary Asian American Issues.
Overall, she is a strong advocate for the presence of students of color and those who identify as underrepresented, first generation, and/or low-income in higher education. In particular, she is committed to scholarship and practice that will benefit the educational attainment of these students.
