Marilyn Joshua is an Associate Professor in the Department of Elementary Education, California State University, Northridge. She earned a B.A. from U.C.L.A. and M.A.and Ph.D. from the Claremont Graduate University. She teaches credential and graduate level courses in reading/language arts. She is one of the first authors in the country to publish rewritten classic children's stories featuring Children of Color (Cinderella and the Glass Slipper, Snow White, The Original Three Little Pigs Retold, and The Adventures of Curious Eric: Learning Concepts). Her scholarly interest and research includes journal articles with a focus on: Transcultural reading and writing opportunities in the classroom; "best practices" instructional strategies for teachers who are reluctant to teach writing; and students as authors.
