Dr. Irene Calzada Cota earned her B.A. degree in English from California State University, Northridge, M.A. in Foreign Language and Second Language Learning from Stanford University, and Ph.D.in the area of Curriculum and Instruction from Stanford University. She also earned a Certificate In The Teaching Of English As A Second Language from UCLA. She has worked as a Title VII, Bilingual Coordinator and as a bilingual classroom teacher. Dr. Calzada Cota joined the faculty in 1994 and teaches seminars in conjunction with student teaching, as well as methods courses in language arts, social studies, and ESL. She is most interested in research regarding parental involvement and the school academic success of English language learners.
