Dr. Joyce Burstein joined the faculty in 2002, coming to Northridge from University of California at Los Angeles where she served as clinical faculty in The Teacher Education Program. Dr. Burstein holds a B.A. in history from UCLA, an M.A. in Education with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction from California State University Northridge and an Ed.D. in Teacher Education and Leadership from UCLA. She has worked as a K-8 classroom teacher in Los Angeles Unified School District for 15 years. Her teaching and research interests are in social studies and multicultural education, the visual-performing arts, professional development schools, teacher networking and induction.
