Pre-Service Initiative : The Pre-Service Initiative is focused on embedding innovative educational philosophy and methodology into professional developmental programs in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education, California State University, Northridge. Additionally, as programs are developed and implemented at the College to prepare professionals before they reach schools and classrooms, information on their design and effectiveness will be gathered and shared with select sister institutions of higher education, beginning with the California State University system. In-Service Initiative: The In-Service Initiative involves supporting and building upon the efforts of existing local training agencies. It is the intention of the Center for Teaching and Learning that expansion of in-service preparation of teachers, administrators, and school-related personnel be integrated with existing and emerging pre-service activities, and that these efforts take place primarily in the San Fernando Valley and greater Los Angeles area. Student Assessment Initiative: The Student Assessment Initiative positions the Center for Teaching and Learning to be a West Coast site for comprehensive assessment and transdisciplinary services consistent with its mission of bringing educational innovations to the College. The establishment of this comprehensive teaching clinic will provide students attending the Michael D. Eisner College of Education with interprofessional preparation including multiple opportunities for hands-on experience in the areas of assessment, intervention, and counseling.
