Making an Appointment
- Intake Appointments (New Students Registering with DRES)
Appointments are required for initial intakes that take approximately 1 hour. During the initial intake appointment, a counselor will review your documentation, approve accommodations and suggest services you may find helpful. See the Getting Started section for more information. - Drop in Appointments (For Students Already Registered with DRES)
Students may drop in anytime during office hours (8:00 am through 4:45 pm), Monday through Friday to meet with a DRES counselor for a short consultation (a maximum of 15 minutes). Students are seen by a counselor on a first come first serve basis. During the first two weeks of each semester Drop in Appointments will be the only appointments available. - Disability Management Counseling Appointments
If more time is needed than the 15 minutes allotted for Drop in Appointments, you may schedule an appointment with a counselor. These appointments are for students already registered with DRES who want to avoid waiting or who need more than 15 minutes to consult with a counselor. - Alternative Testing
In order for students to take exams at the DRES office, students should login to the Student Access and Accommodation System (SAAS) in order to request their testing accommodations and schedule their exams at Alternative Testing at the DRES office. To schedule an exam in SAAS, the following actions must be completed:- Student logs into SAAS (www.csun.edu/saas)
- Students requests testing accommodations for the class
a. Accommodation request must be approved by a DRES Counselor - Student discusses the exam date/time and their testing accommodations with their course instructor
- Instructor logs into SAAS to create an exam profile for the class
- Student logs into SAAS to schedule the exam at Alternative Testing at DRES
- Instructor logs into SAAS to Approve/Deny exam request
- Student takes the exam in Alternative Testing at the DRES office
Limited evening testing services are available on Wednesday's from 4:45pm to 7:00 pm. These services are available for students taking night classes. Students who are taking on-line courses may be eligible for distance learning accommodations. Please call the office to speak to a counselor regarding distance learning accommodations.
Note: In order to schedule staff, assistive technology, alternative media, and testing rooms, exams should be requested in SAAS five business days prior to the exam date.
Final exams should be scheduled in SAAS ten business days prior to the final exam date. - Student logs into SAAS (www.csun.edu/saas)

Limited evening testing services are available during Fall and Spring semesters on Wednesday evenings from 4:45 pm to 7:00 pm.
