Dr. John Roscigno, Conductor
The Philharmonic is the top level orchestra and is comprised of between 80 and 100 students each year. This ensemble plays standard orchestral literature mainly from the late Romantic period and the 20th century. Auditions are highly competitive and take place in the fall or year round if there are openings in the group.
Dr. John Roscigno is Music Director of the CSUN Youth Orchestras and conductor of the Philharmonic and Symphony. He also serves as Professor of Music and Director of Orchestral Studies at CSUN and Music Director of the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic. Dr. Roscigno has conducted throughout the United States and routinely serves as a guest clinician and adjudicator. He also maintains and active professional career as a pianist and percussionist. He has received music degrees from the University of Arizona and University of Illinois.
Every year, members of the Philharmonic Orchestra compete for a spot to perform a solo work with the orchestra.
The Philharmonic will have a concerto audition round in April or May of 2015 and the winners will be featured next season.
