“For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them.” - Aristotle
The Community Service-Learning program provides resources and campus-wide support for faculty who incorporate service-learning into their course curriculum. These resources include:
· Community Partner Referrals: The CSL office will negotiate a Community Partner Agreement that addresses issues related to both the service-learning course requirements and outcomes, as well as Risk Management concerns.
· Student Orientations: The CSL office can conduct student orientations during class time or at other pre-arranged times to introduce them to service-learning concepts, working with the community, and required paperwork.
· Oversight of Student Paperwork: The CSL office offers faculty the option of having students submit Student Learning Plans, Timesheets, and Evaluations to our office; we will maintain and summarize student data and provide regular reports to faculty.
