Dr. Josh Sides

Director

Josh Sides is Director of the Center and the Whitsett Professor of California History in the Department of History at California State University Northridge. His research interests include urban history and policy, race relations, and sexual politics. He is the author of numerous articles and the books L.A. City Limits: African American Los Angeles from the Great Depression to the Present (Berkeley: University of California Press, 2004) and Erotic City: Sexual Revolutions and the Making of Modern San Francisco. He has been a frequent commentator on KPCC, KPFK, KQED, and NPR Radio. He received his PhD in US History from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1999 and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Davis, in 1994.
