(NORTHRIDGE, Calif. March 20, 2009) Beth Halaas, Director of Field Education in the Master of Social Work Department, has been named Social Worker of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers San Fernando Valley Local Unit, Region G.. Ms. Halass will receive the award at the chapter's local awards banquet and workshop on March 27.
Ms. Halaas joined the MSW faculty in the Fall of 2004. She received her MSW degree from UCLA and has seventeen years of practice experience in both the private and public sectors. Ms. Halaas has worked primarily in the areas of social service management, planning, and administration; case management; training/education; public health; drug/alcohol treatment; and HIV/AIDS in the greater Los Angeles area.
