Lisa Baughn Wins 2009 CSUN Outstanding Graduate Student Award

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif. April 20, 2009) Geography Graduate Student Lisa Baughn has received the prestigious Nathan O. Freedman Award For Outstanding Graduate Student for 2009.  This Award is granted to a CSUN Graduate Student who shows the best record of distinguished scholarship, has a minimum GPA of 3.5, and has made significant contributions to the field of study.  The Award includes a stipend of $1,000.

Lisa currently is finishing her Master’s Thesis on the production of tourism space in Tijuana; she also teaches Geog. 105 Weather labs.  In 2006-07 Lisa received a Fulbright Fellowship, which she used to study integration of Muslims in a West Java, Indonesia, community.  She is continuing her interests in Muslim integration in the West as a Research Assistant for Harvard University’s Islam in the West Program (www.euro-islam.info).
