The Afriat Sanchez Scholarship is offered through the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at California State University. Steven Afriat is a CSUN alumnus working in public service who maintains a strong commitment to supporting future leaders in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities.
AMOUNT OF AWARD
The amount of each scholarship is $500.00. There may be years in which more than one award is made and years in which no award is granted.
ELIGIBILITY
Any currently enrolled student at California State University, Northridge. Students may receive this scholarship more than once, but must reapply and compete annually.
CRITERIA
In awarding the Scholarship preference shall be given based upon the following additional donor-established criteria:
- A demonstrated commitment or involvement in organizations that promote the civil rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender persons.
- The award is made to a student who maintains a 3.0 overall GPA, demonstrates leadership, scholastic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities.
By supporting these scholars, the Afriat Sanchez Scholarship hopes to provide a greater level of acceptance, respect, and tolerance within future generations for persons regardless of sexual orientation, gender expression or gender identity.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
