CSUN Model UN Students Win Awards

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., October 15, 2012) -- The CSUN Model United Nations team participated in the annual Southern California Model United Nations 2012 conference on October 12-14 in Anaheim this weekend. Several students won awards:

  • Adam Lane won an Outstanding Delegate Award representing Germany in the General Assembly 1st committee.
  • Steven Zavala won an Outstanding Delegate Award representing Guatemala in the Economic and Social Council.
  • Hillary Sandoval won an Outstanding Delegate Award representing Argentina in the IAEA.
  • Oscar Luzanilla won a Distinguished Delegate Award representing Argentina in the Economic and Social Council.
  • Oscar Luzanilla, Hillary Sandoval and Matt Melamed won a Distinguished Delegation Award representing Argentina across three committees.

An Outstanding Delegate Award means they were the single best delegate in committee and the Distinguished Delegate Award means they were the second best. There were two awards per committee. The CSUN MUN students were awarded as the best in three of six committees. The team was trained and led by Head Delegates Hillary Sandoval and David Vassalli.
