DuBois-Hamer Institute
Mission Statement:
The DuBois-Hamer Institute for Academic Achievement is operated under the umbrella of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and directed by Dr. Theresa Renee White. Its mission includes two major tenets:
1) to complement the University's efforts to address the needs of African American students
2) to ensure that African-American students have the necessary skills to achieve academic excellence and make a contribution to their community.
Operating on the concept of "family," the Institute works to achieve its mission by establishing a support network within the University and in communities external to the University. It provides multiple programs both on and off campus. The Institute is assisted invaluably in its work by the volunteer support of faculty of the Pan African Studies Dept. and CSUN students committed to "giving back" to their communities.
