Department Goals

As one of the liberal arts, we, the faculty of the Department of Anthropology, see our primary function as one of educating undergraduate and graduate students in anthropology. For undergraduates, this translates into providing our students not only with substantive knowledge but also the skills of critical thinking and the ability to communicate orally and in writing. With graduate students, we have the more specific goals of providing the background to pursue further graduate education elsewhere, teach in community colleges, or in the case of the public archaeology program, to work in public archaeology.
