Communicating Common Ground
Celebrating
Diversity and Community
Reception for students, parents, administrators
Grant High School Library Spring 2001
|
All
students involved in the project from CSUN and Grant High School were give a
4 inch by 4 inch wood block and asked to create a visual representation of
their cultural identity or identities. The blocks were taken and assembled
to create this piece of art.
The
overall effect, as you can see, is of a collage or mosaic that allows us to
see our individual identities within a group or community. While each piece
is unique and interesting individually, the complex interplay between and
among them and the overall design that is created as the blocks are brought
together provides an inspiring metaphor for the possibilities of a
culturally diverse world.
