There
are four vital steps that manufacturers of Assistive Technology products need
to master in working with the broadcast and print media, and they are:
1.
Having
a story worth telling. (Human-interest angle).
2.
Knowing
the facts about your product and the benefits to the users and their
disability.
3.
Knowing
the media-outlets, reporters covering wellness issues, media deadlines, etc.
4.
Cultivating
the media.
These
four areas will be discussed by a distinguished panel of journalists with
decades of experience in the print and broadcast areas.
Award-winning
writer on disability issues and assistive technology John. M. Williams will
moderate. He will be assisted by Matthew Valenzano
from Exceptional Parent Magazine; Chet Cooper of Ability Magazine; Sam Maddox
from the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation and founder of New Mobility
Magazine; Carmen Chandler from California State University, Northridge, and
award-winning producer and reporter Joyce Thorne.
