A scan and read system for low vision users can be a flexible and cost-effective solution. This session will demonstrate how to use ZoomText 9.0 Magnifier/ScreenReader with an inexpensive scanning/OCR package to attain an easy-to-use system for reading all types of printed material. The demonstration will include how to scan and read documents, fill-in forms, and save scanned documents in electronic format - all with the aid of ZoomText. This session is recommended for users and industry professionals that evaluate, recommend, or teach assistive technology products.
This presentation will cover:
• Brief overview of ZoomText 9.0 Magnifier/ScreenReader
• Overview of available scanning/OCR packages and form-filling programs
• Installing the scanning package
• Configuring the scanning software for the low-vision user
• Configuring ZoomText for scan and read tasks
• Performing the scanning/OCR process
• Directing scanned output (image and text) to specific applications
• Viewing and reading the scanned output with ZoomText
• Using Finder to locate information within the scanned document
• Filling-in scanned forms
• Saving scanned documents in electronic format
The training will conclude with a question and answer session and an opportunity for attendees to receive a free trial of ZoomText 9.0.
